Last week I sent street artist, Know Hope, a nerdy message on flickr telling him how much I love his work and to ask if he would be coming out with a book soon. He is really one of my top five fave artists right now…and he sent me a message back! I thought I was sending it into the void of flickr fan messages, but no! This is one of those moments where I wish I could have touched up my flickr photostream and taken out the bad photos like fixing my hair quick before I meet someone really important. I wonder if he looked at them? Mind spinning.
My story telling attempts in social situations generally end up in some unforeseen interruption, someone talking louder than me, or everyone losing interest altogether. The point is that everyone gets excited when the topic of conversation veers toward a subject for which you just happen to have the perfect input. Now picture spending most of your 25 years plagued with that pent up excitement and gun shy attitude toward any story-telling opportunity. The feeling you should be imagining explains most of my awkwardness, some of my spastic expressive nature, and all of why I hope this blog can finally free my inner storyteller.
